A beautiful and famous high denomination banknote from the British Commonwealth. Issued from Calcutta, this gigantic note had a contemporary face value of approximately $330 US Dollars, which was an enormous sum in the 1930s and 1940s. Most of these notes have been redeemed for smaller denominations and any extant example is a treasure. A spindle hole, pencil notations, and bank stamps are mentioned for accuracy.
