Sole PMG Graded 5 Taels Remainder

China Asiatic Banking Corporation, Shanghai 5 Taels ND (ca. 1800) Pick S117r Remainder PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
Asiatic Banking Corporation notes for China are most likely only seen in prototype or remainder format, as it is unlikely that issued banknotes were ever signed into service and issued. This bank operated in China for, at most, four years, from 1862 or 1864 until 1866, at which time its assets were liquidated. This remainder offers a glimpse into what a banknote from this issuer for a branch office in Shanghai could have been. A classic 19th-century design. At the time of cataloging, this is the first and only example graded by PMG. Extremely rare and missing from nearly all relevant collections.
From The Norman Lin Collection

PMG Choice Uncirculated 63。
