Description

Sharp $20 Manning Silver Certificate

Fr. 320 $20 1891 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
This attractive note represents the second series of $20 Silver Certificates (the first being a similarly designed Series of 1886 issue) issued honoring Daniel Manning who died in office in 1887 while serving as Secretary of the Treasury. The 1891 design differs from the 1886 design primarily due to a more open back design whose larger expanses of white space draw attention to fewer design details. This example is well printed on bright paper with decent margins and face-to-back registration. Only 512,000 Fr. 320s were printed, with the current Track & Price Census numbering 84 examples,
