Black Eagle with Serial N3A
Serial Number 3 Fr. 236 $1 1899 Silver Certificate PCGS Banknote
Choice Unc 64.Serial number N3A adorns this Black Eagle with serial number embossing. Serial numbers under 1000 were originally set by hand for large size type notes. This time consuming process was eventually eliminated when leading zeros were added to the serial numbers with the introduction of small size notes. The earliest recorded appearance for N3A was in a 1992 auction. This was followed with an appearance in our May 2000 Rosemont, Illinois auction. There are no other recorded appearances in public for this note. We had a Fr. 235 with serial number K5A realize $4,920 in May 2023. This Serial Number 3 note is the middle note in a consecutive quartet from a cut sheet of four, N1A-N4A, offered in this auction, with each of the four notes offered as individual lots.
