Description
Highest Denomination Taels Issue
China Board of Revenue 50 Taels ND (1861-64) Pick A13e
S/M#H176 Reissue PMG Very Fine 25.During the 1850s and 1860s, the Ch'ing Dynasty government issued a series of notes with the denomination in Cash, as well as a Board of Revenue series denominated in Taels. The Taels notes are scarcer than the Cash notes, and have a slightly wider and larger appearance. Additionally, the denominations are quite different as well. This 50 Taels is the highest denomination of this series and it is a seriously scarce type to find. To date, PMG has graded only 28 examples across all varieties issued in the 1850s and 1860s. In fact, we have only offered five examples of this type, but only Pick numbers A13b and A13c. This is the first A13e variety we have offered, which is the final variety of this rare type. Printed and written notations are seen on both sides of this enormous banknote. Spindle holes at issue are to be expected. The key type for the series and a very rare, museum-worthy note from the 19th-century.

PMG Very Fine 25。
