Description

Austin, TX- Republic of Texas $3 June 1, 1841 Cr. A3 Medlar 23 PMG Very Fine 25.
This was part of an emission of $1s, $2s, and $3s authorized in 1838 to alleviate a shortage of low denomination notes for use in commerce. The $3 features vignettes of a cotton plant at left and a vignette of, perhaps, Agriculture seated on bales at center. PMG mentions the usual cut cancels. There are two small spots, probably the result of mounting adhesive residue.
