Description

Austin, TX- Republic of Texas $2 Apr. 1, 1841 Cr. A2 Medlar 22 PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.
Authorized by an Act of December 14, 1838, this example was part of an emission of $1, $2, and $3 notes undoubtedly intended to ease a shortage of low denomination bills needed for day-to-day commerce. The $2 depicts a cowboy on horseback roping a steer. PMG mentions the presence of the usual cut cancels on this note that is printed on particularly nice bright paper. A very nice piece of Texas history.
