Fr. 16 $1 1862 Legal Tender PCGS Banknote Choice VF 35.
This is an otherwise bright and well printed Legal Ace that has had an oval advertisement embossed over Salmon P. Chase's portrait. It reads: "GEO A. GRAVES / IMPORTER & DEALER IN / HARDWARE AND CUTLERY / OPPOSITE / MASSASOIT HOUSE / SPRINGFIELD, MASS." While advertising notes resembling U.S. Currency are frequently seen, actual U.S. Notes used in the fashion are much rarer.
