One of Two Known Fr. 1530* $5 1928E Mule
Fr. 1530* $5 1928E Mule Legal Tender Note. Back Plate 637. PMG
Choice Fine 15.An incredible rarity that is just one of only two recorded examples of this highly sought after variety. This 1928E replacement features the micro back plate number 637. PMG has graded both known examples, the other just one point higher at a Very Fine 20 grade. The tenth edition of the Schwartz-Lindquist reference mentions only two Fr. 1530* mule stars known and lists two serial numbers. The mule star in this lot with serial number *07850075A has the highest serial of the two mentioned. We sold the only other example reported during our 2020 FUN Signature Auction, where the Very Fine 20 note brought over $13,000 when the dust settled. An absolutely must have for the serious and most advanced small size collector.
