Beautiful Fr. 353 McPherson $2
Fr. 353 $2 1890 Treasury Note PMG About Uncirculated 55.A McPherson $2 with serial number A14100 and a well documented past. Its first recorded auction was the March 1965 auction of Abner Kreisberg and Hans Schulman as lot 937. It next participated in the inaugural auction of William Donlon held on May 22, 1971, as lot 607. The third auction appearance was at our January 9, 1998, Winter Auction as lot 1645. It participated in one more auction before our current offering as lot 23081, in our January 2017 FUN auction. We and the cataloguers of the past are/were unable to find either the handling or the minor foreign substance as mentioned by PMG. Our examination does confirm that this is one beautiful note.
