Martinsville, VA - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The Peoples National Bank Ch. # 9847 PMG Very Fine 30.Somewhat available in large size, this better Martinsville bank has been very difficult to locate in small size, likely due to the fact that it closed its doors during the Depression in early 1932. This bright and crisp $20 is just the fourth 1929 Series example to be reported from this charter and it becomes the finest known of that quartet. Four years ago, we auctioned a Type 1 $10, in a PMG Very Fine 20 holder, for $2,100.
