Clarksburg, WV - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 472 The Traders National
Bank Ch. # 4569 PMG Very Fine 25.A nice new addition to the census of this very rare Clarksburg bank and the first example from here to be publicly offered since 2004. The Traders National was a short-lived affair, issuing Brown Backs only during its brief existence from 1891 to 1905. Until this evening, just five notes were reported from here, none of which have made a public appearance in almost 20 years. This pen signed example faces up quite nicely with balanced margins and pleasing ink colors. Its only distractions are some minor edge repairs and light staining on the back.
