Description

Unique for the Bank - Ex: Irish

Yoakum, TX - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 484 The First National Bank Ch. # 4363 PMG Very Fine 25.
This wonderful Texas rarity is the only known survivor from this short-lived issuer that operated in the southern part of the state. The First National was in business from just 1890 until 1907 and issued only a handful of $10 and $20 Brown Backs. This offering, which traces its last appearance to the sale of The J.L. Irish Collection in 1997, is the only example in the census from this rare charter. It faces up quite nicely for the grade with ample margins, bold ink colors, and dark pen signatures. PMG has mentioned a few minor flaws, but any such imperfections are not distracting at all on this unique South Texas note.
