Lufkin, TX - $20 1882 Brown Back Fr. 504 The Angelina County
National Bank Ch. # (S)6009 PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.This is by far the rarer of Lufkin's two national banks, having issued only Brown Backs and Second Charter Date Backs before liquidating in 1912. Just four notes are known, all Brown Back twenties and all in about the same grade. This attractive and original piece with vivid inks and sharp two color pen signatures was part of The J.L. Irish Collection sold in 1997.
