Rare & Attractive Stockton $20 National Gold Bank Note
Stockton, CA - $20 1873 Fr. 1155 The First National Gold Bank Ch. # 2077This example is one of just seven Original Series $20 National Gold Bank Notes known from Stockton, along with a single Series 1875 specimen. Track and Price lists just six offerings of any $20 NGBN from this bank during the past thirty years, with all save one reaching or exceeding the $20,000 level. Interestingly, after a spate of appearances from 2005 through 2008, there has not been one offering at public sale of any Stockton twenty during the ensuing nine years. This piece is the second finest known of the group, likely surpassed in grade only by the Trask-Jim O'Neal example which has been off the market for a decade in the strongest of hands. Bright and well printed PMG Very Fine 20 Net, with a couple of very minor repaired splits, and the comment "trimmed," which, considering the margins, is highly unlikely. If rarity, demand and desirability are any guide, expect bidding to easily reach and perhaps well exceed...
