Description

Moore, Montana - One of Two Notes Reported

Moore, MT - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The First National Bank Ch. # (W)8539 PMG Very Fine 25.
This great Montana rarity is the finer of only two pieces reported from this Fergus County bank. The First National, the sole issuer in this small locale, issued only Third Charter notes between its opening in 1907 and its failure in 1923. The only one of the known pair to have made a public appearance since 2006, this $10 displays even wear, solid margins, and dark signatures. As a bonus, this lot also includes a contemporary postcard of "downtown" Moore with the bank building pictured at left. It last fetched $8,460 in our 2015 Long Beach auction and remains rare enough to approach that figure again. (Total: 2 items)
