Greenport, NY - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The Peoples National Bank Ch. #
3232 PMG Choice Fine 15.A true Long Island rarity, this piece hails from one of the toughest Suffolk County banks from which to obtain a National Bank Note. The second, and far rarer, of Greenport's two issuers, this bank, which maintained a paltry circulation of just $12,200, is represented in the census by just one large size and one small note. The latter is the piece we are offering this evening. Pedigreed to The Joe Sande Collection which was sold at auction at the one-and-only Cherry Hill Paper Money show in 1985, it has seen its share of circulation and has a paper pull on the back, but it does face up nicely for the grade. Expect serious bidding interest from the many collectors of this popular area of New York.
