Description

Unique Kenduskeag NB of Bangor Lazy Deuce

Bangor, ME - $2 Original Fr. 387b The Kenduskeag National Bank Ch. # 518 PMG Very Fine 25.
This lovely Maine rarity comes from a very scarce Bangor bank that was only in business from 1864 until 1906. Named after the Kenduskeag Stream that runs through this Penobscot County community, this bank is represented by only five pieces in the latest census. That scant total includes this Deuce which is the only example of this denomination reported from here and a note that is being publicly offered for the first time. It is a bright mid-grade piece with wonderful color and nice margins for a New England First Charter note. There are a couple of areas of minor staining in the top margin, which PMG calls minor thinning, that appear to be an attempt to close a couple of small edge splits. Either way, they do little to detract from the overall appearance of this great Maine Deuce.
