Newly Reported Pleasantville Note

Pleasantville, IA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 633 The First National Bank Ch. # 5564 PMG Very Good 8.
This tiny Marion County community has always been one of the toughest for all of the many collectors of the Hawkeye State. Pleasantville was the host to just one short-lived note issuer, a bank that was only in business from 1900 until its failure in the agricultural depression of the 1920s. Prior to this evening, just three notes were reported from here - two of which are permanently ensconced in the Higgins Museum, while the third last appeared on the market in our 2010 FUN auction. Tonight, we are pleased to offer the fourth reported note from this rare charter. It is well circulated, but retains solid paper along with decent color and clear printed signatures. It provides a great opportunity for the Iowa collectors to finally acquire this heretofore virtually unavailable charter.
