Description

Newly Reported Serial Number 1 Whiting Red Seal

Serial Number 1 Whiting, IN - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The First National Bank Ch. # (M)6526 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
This is an exciting new addition to the census of this scarce Lake County bank that is the first Serial Number 1 note to be reported from this charter. It also becomes the first Red Seal to surface from this institution that issued large notes only before liquidating in 1932. It is a pen-signed beauty with blazing ink colors and deep, original embossing that has just acquired a few light storage folds and some pinholes. It should generate plenty of serious bidding interest as evidenced by the fact that we recently auctioned a moderately circulated Plain Back, with a four-digit serial number, from this bank for over $2,000.
