Description

Very Rare Fort Lauderdale Large Size

Fort Lauderdale, FL - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 634 The First National Bank Ch. # 12020 PMG Choice Fine 15.
This great Florida rarity is one of just four notes reported from this now-booming Broward County community. However, in the 1920s, Fort Lauderdale was just a backwater of 3,000 souls surrounded by swampland. It was the host to just one national bank which opened in 1921 and which was closed by the receiver shortly before Christmas in 1928. As mentioned, tonight's offering is one of just four pieces recorded from this tiny issuer and the first of that quartet to cross the auction block in almost eight years. It is a pleasing, evenly circulated $10 displaying nice color and just honest wear. Considering the number of south Florida collectors, this rare note should generate serious bidding interest tonight.
