Description

First Offering in 25 Years

Beloit, KS - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 606 The Union National Bank Ch. # (W)6701 PMG Very Fine 20.
A tough Mitchell County bank that was only in business from 1903 until its failure in 1923, starting out as the German National Bank and using this title for only six years. This offering is one of just three notes bearing this short-lived charter's rare second title, and the first of that trio to publicly appear since this example sold at auction more than twenty years ago back in 1998. Sustaining honest wear, this $5 has good color and bold purple stamped signatures.
