Westport, CT - $1 1875 Fr. 383 The First National Bank Ch. # 394 PMG Fine 12.A scarce note from one of the most affluent communities in the region. Of the dozen or so pieces reported from this one bank location, most seem quite closely held, as only two examples have been publicly offered in the past fifteen years. This 1875 ace is one of the reported notes and was last on the market in our 1998 FUN auction. It has the typical New England trim as well as minor repairs, but it remains quite attractive for the grade with bold ink colors and dark pen signatures.
