Salem, MA - $1 Original Fr. 380 The Mercantile National Bank Ch. # 691 PMG Very Fine 25.This is a very attractive note from this Essex County bank that issued large only before failing in 1914. It is the only Original Series Ace in the census from this scarce charter and is being publicly offered for the first time since our 1996 FUN auction. Unusually well margined for a New England Ace, this pretty example displays even wear, pleasing color, and bold pen signatures. A small speck of minor rust is found on the back at bottom center.
