Beautiful Georgia $20 Brown Back - Ex-Grinnell

Columbus, GA - $20 1882 Brown Back Fr. 501 The National Bank of Columbus Ch. # 2338 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
An impeccable pedigree comes with this gorgeous $20 Brown Back from this Deep South state - first, it was lot 2803 in Barney Bluestone's sale of the Albert Grinnell collection in 1945 and later, it passed through the illustrious collections of Donlon, Schermerhorn, and Bailey before being acquired by Bob Medlar for his Brown Back collection. Bob Medlar's collection was sold by Hickman-Oakes at the 1987 Memphis show, and now this attractive note is finally available again for one fortunate collector to acquire. Called "Practically Uncirculated" by Barney Bluestone and XF by John Hickman, it certainly has the look of a much higher grade than that assigned by PMG. Whatever its technical grade, this pen signed beauty is a real winner of a note with bright paper, vibrant color, and loads of eye appeal.
