Description

Cambridge, NY- Andrew Paywell $2 Apr. 12, 1812 Harris UNL PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25.
An unusual (to say the least) oval shaped note which may rank among the earliest satirical issues known. The obligation states "Promise to pay Anthony Cash," and is signed by Andrew Paywell. PCGS notes "Repairs," which seem to be confined to the blank back. This piece is unlisted in Harris and is the only example we have ever seen. Presumed to be unique and extremely desirable due to its status as a very early Satirical as well as being from the War of 1812 era.
