Description
Desirable Ketchikan, AK Small Size
Ketchikan, AK - $10 1929 Ty. 1 The First National Bank Ch. #
12578 PMG Very Fine 25.A bright and crisp example from our 49th State whose notes are always in strong demand, particularly from the collectors putting together a state set of small size Nationals. This attractive mid-grade $10 exhibits just even, problem free wear. Officers are Cashier W(illiam) A(ugust) (Dietrick) Pries and President J(orgen) E(mil) Berg. They served together in these two capacities from 1929-33. Their printed signatures are the only ones found on small size Nationals issued by this charter number. The third and last president during the National Bank Note era was the founder of the bank, John Koel, who died in 1946. As he was laid to rest, businesses in Ketchikan closed for an hour out of respect for Mr. Koel. He left behind in his will money for scholarships for the youth of Ketchikan.
