Description

Loan of 1847 $5000 6% Bond of 1867 Hessler X116I.
A rare bond no matter what the grade as Hessler list, all denominations of this loan as R8, one to three known. This is not surprising as pre-Civil War United States government bonds are just plain rare with our total offerings still remaining less than five. This is the second highest denomination of the 1847 loan issue. It grades PCGS Apparent Fine 15, hole-punch cancelled, damaged, missing pieces, and with repairs. Nevertheless, this may be mostly why someone was able to save it.
