Attractive $500 Lone Star Note

Austin, TX- Republic of Texas $500 Apr. 26, 1839 Cr. A9 Medlar 29 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25.
While lower denominations from this Lone Star issue are frequently encountered, the same can not be said for the highest denomination, the $500. Shull estimates a surviving population of perhaps 50-100 examples. Due to the issue's popularity, there are seldom enough $500s available to meet demand from collectors striving to have a complete denomination set ($5, $10, $20, $50, $100, and $500). The design features a classic vignette of Prosperity and Commerce seated, signed by George Hatch, and of course the iconic orange Lone Star back. Aside from some pinholes and the usual cut cancels, the note is free of other meaningful distractions.
