Description

Ware, MA- Hampshire Manufacturers Bank $1 Apr, 1, 1859 G8a PCGS Very Fine 20 Details.
The bank was incorporated on February 26, 1825, and remained in business until becoming the Ware National Bank during the course of December 1864 to January 1865. The $1 design features a large custom panoramic view of Ware flanked by a female portrait at left and a vignette of four cherubs lifting a large 1 onto a pedestal at right. A large red ONE security panel appears across the bottom center of the face along with a small dog head vignette. PCGS Banknote mentions hinge remnants on the top edge. Excessively rare, this is the only issued example known to us at present.
