Description

HB-135 EP-148 Reed-JG12 12¢ J. Gault Plain Frame Extremely Fine.
Fred Reed lists this 12¢ number as a R-4, 31-40 known. This pleasing example has a nice problem-free olive-green encasement and an attractive stamp that is centered a little low and to the right leaving the cardboard backing exposed. The mica is nice when observed head-on, while tilting the piece does reveal crazing that is concentrated mostly on the left side and along the inside edge.
