Beautiful High Grade Clifton 1902 $10

Clifton, AZ - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 633 The First National Bank Ch. # (P)5821 PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.
This is one of the incredible Arizona rarities that we have handled more than once over the years. In 2004, we offered it in our Central States auction when it was new to the market and described in part, "A wonderful new discovery that comes from the family of one of this bank's officers and has never been offered to the numismatic community prior to this evening's auction. It is an absolute peach of a note, fully original and utterly unmolested, and as bright and pretty as the day it was cut from the sheet. The colors are bold and the paper bright, with both contrasting perfectly with the two color signatures, one purple and the other black. Although clearly never circulated, we are going to be super-conservative here and label this beauty Choice About Uncirculated, as there are faint traces of handling along with a close bottom margin on the left side. Although several other notes from here are known, all have been ensconced in long term holdings for many years, with our records showing that this is the first offering of any kind from this one bank town since an appearance in a Hickman-Oakes sale nineteen years ago. This is far and away the finest known example from this bank, and is certain to be the best Arizona discovery of the year." While not the rarest Arizona bank, just three Series 1902 notes are known today from this Clifton institution. Even well-known collector and researcher Peter Huntoon, who had assembled the best Arizona National collection to ever be offered at auction, was never able to acquire an example of this type from this charter. One of the finest examples of this Series 1902 $10 type known for the entire state, this offering will certainly generate serious bidding interest tonight.
