Description
Burlington, NJ- Burlington Bank $50-$100 Aug. 30, 1855 as G16-as G18 as Wait 240-as 242 Uncut Proof Sheet PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.The bank was incorporated in 1856 and closed in 1865. The sheet comprises a single $50 and $100 note. The $50 design incorporates two male portraits (one of Edwin A. Stevens) and a large vignette of a passenger train with industrial buildings in the distance. The $100 design features a large rendition of the New Jersey state seal, an oval portrait of Washington, and a vignette of a farm girl. The sheet is printed on India paper without POCs or other cancellations and is mounted on cardstock. There was one sheet that appeared as part of Lot 907 in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. Undoubtedly unique and a striking uncut sheet that has survived the scissors so far.
