Rare St. Louis $5 Demand Note
Fr. 5 $5 1861 Demand Note PMG Very Fine 20.While $5 Demand Notes periodically appear, they are usually from one of the East Coast cities like New York, Philadelphia, or Boston. However, notes payable in St. Louis are another matter. The Track & Price census records a total of ten notes at present and the PMG Population Report counts only three examples graded so far. This note is the middle grade of the three. PMG notes minor repairs which seem to be confined to small splits and nicks in the margins. This example last crossed the auction block in 2015 when it realized $19,975.
