Description

Washington, DC- The Corporation of Washington City 50¢ 1814
A great rarity from the Slabaugh collection. The 1814 emission represented the first issue from Washington's relatively new municipal government. All denominations are prohibitively rare, with even the Leidman collection, easily the finest District assemblage ever, containing only two such examples with the 50¢ in that collection a damaged "Fair." Fine, with a few unimportant internal splits and one small repair, still nice enough to be perhaps the finest known example of this early issue.
