Description

Bright and Attractive $10,000 FRN

Fr. 2231-A $10,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG About Uncirculated 55 Net.
Unlike the New York district $10,000's which appear frequently as a result of the Binion hoard, Series 1934 Boston $10,000's appear at auction far less frequently, with just two appearances in the last five years. The last was a PMG 64 EPQ that topped the $220,000 mark last year. Full margins frame this well printed example. The Light Green overprint is vivid and perfectly backed by the creamy and attractive paper. A minor repair is noted by the grading service, but this is not uncommon on $5,000's and $10,000's, where the vast majority of examples have seen some level of improvement. Consistent prices in the six figure range for About Uncirculated and even Extremely Fine graded examples, are indicative of the allure that the high denomination trophy notes carry in the numismatic community.
