Description

Outstanding Fr. 333 1891 $50

Fr. 333 $50 1891 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45.
"The outstanding feature of this rare $50 Silver is its incredible margins. The note has a picture frame appearance, with broad, even margins all the way around. The colors are also excellent on this very scarce note. Track & Price lists only 37 notes in all grades combined. The census shows two notes as having been called Uncirculated over the years. Neither of the major grading services has seen an Uncirculated piece to date, and this lovely 45 is the highest yet graded by either PCGS or PMG. A very nice combination of rarity and grade." That was our description at our April 2008 Auction of the Tom Flynn Collection. The Track & Price census remains at 37 and this 45 remains the highest note graded by either service. With both services having matured considerably within the last five years, notes that have remained at the top of the population reports will likely stay that way.
