Elgin, IL - $100 1882 Date Back Fr. 567 The Home NB Ch. # (M)2016A beautiful example for type which comes from our sale of the Walter Herget Illinois collection in January 2003, where we said, "Only 114 examples of this rare type and denomination are listed in the most recent Kelly census for all banks and states combined. This has got to be one of the prettiest of that limited number. Pen signed Very Fine+, a lovely note which was one of Mr. Herget's favorites." The number of known 1882 $100 Date Backs has since grown to 131, but this is still one of the nicest we have handled. PCGS Very Fine 30.
