Description

First Public Offering Since 1996

Chicago, IL - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 469 The Northwestern NB Ch. # 508
A great new discovery from this very rare Chicago bank that issued First and Second Charter notes only before liquidating in 1900. Just four notes are listed in the census with only one of those pieces ever appearing at public sale, with that offering coming back in 1996. This new entrant is a pretty mid-grade $5 Brown Back that has solid paper along with vibrant color and dark signatures. A few small flecks of paper clip rust have caused PCGS to wield its Apparent club once again, but they truly affect nothing and do not detract at all from this tough note's overall appearance. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25, a great opportunity for the Chicago specialists.
