Excessively Rare North Carolina Lazy Deuce
Charlotte, NC - $2 Original Fr. 389 The Merchants & Farmers NB Ch. # 1781This is one of the greatest North Carolina rarities we have ever had the privilege of offering. It is the only Lazy Two known from this bank, and one of just seven known from all banks in the state combined, one of which is held in the state museum collection and another of which is heavily repaired. Fortunately for collectors, this example is an evenly circulated piece displaying great color and body for the grade. It easily grades Fine, and perhaps a touch better, making it the second highest grade Lazy Two known from North Carolina by a considerable margin. A tiny corner tip repair must be mentioned for the sake of total accuracy in cataloguing, but it is miniscule and affects nothing.
