Description
Charles Burt engraving of Treasury Secretary William Meredith, as was used on the Fifth Issue Fraction Currency 10-cent notes. The Burt engraving is approximately two and one-fourth inches by one and seven-eighth inch on India paper mounted on card. Meredith's name is engraved twice, and the Bureau, Engraving & Printing imprint is below the portrait. Pencil notations indicate the use of this image on Fractional Currency by Friedberg designations. Vignette and card are in excellent condition.
