New York, NY- Importers and Traders $1 Mar. 1, 1856 G2b PMG Very Fine 20.
The Importers and Traders Bank was established in 1856 and became the Importers and Traders National Bank of New York, charter 1231, in 1865. This attractive ace features a portrait of George Washington at upper left, the state bank department die at lower left, and a large "ONE" panel on either end of the note. A dark red overall tint and a red back with a large white "ONE" at center finish the design. We last offered this piece in February 2024 for $780. It is the only issued example of this denomination that we have had the privilege of auctioning. No significant impairments are mentioned by PMG.
