Description
Franklin, PA- (Treasurer of) Venango County $5 Oct. 14, 1862 (?) Hoober UNL PMG Fine 12.Lithographed by Hatch & Co., this county issue features a frontier family rafting down a river to a new life in the West. This is flanked by a vignette of a Native American on horseback armed with a lance at left and another of a young sailor boy at right. A green overall tint and a large green and white FIVE protector complete the design. PMG notes some repairs and penciled annotations that are not overly distracting. This is the first dollar-denominated note from this issuer that we have offered.
