Description

New York, NY- North River Banking Company $100 Bill of Exchange Apr. 2, 1840 PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
The bank was a classic paper mill churning out tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars in Post Notes and Bills of Exchange. The bank was correctly labeled as a worthless fraud almost from the day it opened in early 1840. This Bill of Exchange depicts an early passenger train with PMG noting some paper clip rust and a repair in the bottom margin of some ink burn damage.
