Description

Denver, CO- Colorado Supply Co. 5¢ Oct. 1, 1894 Remainder PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The Colorado Supply Co. was a subsidiary of Colorado Fuel & Iron that served as the company store in CF&I company towns and mining sites in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. By 1908, there were forty-six retail locations. The company closed its last location in 1966, with most closing decades earlier. The use of scrip ended in 1912, although revived for a short time during the Great Depression. This is one of the earliest dated issues that we have offered from this company and it is in much nicer condition than many surviving examples, with PMG mentioning only the three POCs as well as staple holes.
