Description
Troy, NY- Mutual Bank $2 18__ UNL Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.The Mutual Bank was organized in 1853, and in 1865, the Mutual National Bank of Troy, charter 992, succeeded this concern. A portrait of an unidentified female, taken from life, is located at lower left, and the state banking department's die is observed at upper left of center. At upper right, a trio of workers lifts a large stone slab utilizing a lever. Printed on India paper mounted to cardstock with four punch cancellations in the signature lines, this design variation, which does not include an overprint of any kind, was not recorded in the Haxby reference. Very few examples have crossed our auction block prior to now. We last offered this exact piece in July 2021, when it closed for $312.
