Description

Belvidere, NJ- Belvidere Bank $1.25 Oct. 1, 1862 G8 Wait 31 PMG Fine 12.
The tougher odd denomination piece in this lot hails from the Belvidere Bank, which was incorporated in 1831. In 1865, the Belvidere National Bank, charter 1096, succeeded this concern. At left on this $1.25 note are two children with sheaves of wheat, at center are grazing cattle, and at lower right is a portrait of New Jersey State Assemblyman P.M. Wolsieffer as a child. Only one issued example of this design and denomination has crossed our auction block previously. PMG comments on stains on our current offering.
