Description
Lafayette, IN- Pioneer Association $5 18__ Wolka 1115-09 Proprietary Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.The Pioneer Association was a fraudulent "paper mill" whose only purpose was to put as many of its notes as possible in circulation with no thought of ever redeeming them. After its demise, its unissued remainder notes were used to create alterations purporting to be the legitimate issues of other more successful institutions elsewhere in the United States. This is a so-called Proprietary Proof printed in the 20th century by ABNCo from the original plates for general corporate purposes and programs. It depicts cattle being driven across a river at left and a haying scene at lower right with an orange overall tint and a large orange and white 5 protector (the original production notes have a tint that is more red than orange). It is presently unknown exactly how many of these were printed.
