Buffalo, NY- B(enjamin) Rathbun 6-1/4¢; 12-1/2¢; 25¢; 50¢ July 4, 1836 Choice About Uncirculated or Better.Benjamin Rathbun was a businessman and developer who dominated the commercial scene in Buffalo in the early to mid-1830s. He and his family fraudulently funded his overly ambitious expansion plans which ultimately led to an indictment for fraud which resulted in a prison sentence for Rathbun. These scrip notes were redeemable in goods at any of Rathbun's stores in the city. (Total: 4 notes)
