Description

Burnet, TX- Treasurer of Burnet County 50¢ Oct. 17, 1862 Medlar 2 PMG Very Good 10.
The county was founded in 1852 and organized in 1854. Both the city and county were named in honor of the first (provisional) president of the Republic of Texas, David Burnet. This note is typical of most Texas county notes, being simply typeset on brown paper. As the text in the end panels indicates, the note was "Receivable for County Dues." Payable in "Confederate Currency when the sum of Ten Dollars is presented." Signed by Thomas B. Haynie as Treasurer.
